Zamak 3

Zamak 3 is a family of alloys with a base metal of zinc and alloying elements of aluminum, magnesium and copper. It is the most commonly used in Zinc die casting, providing an excellent combination of strenght, ductility. It also provides excellent plating and finishing aracteristics.

zinc alloy is often the first choice when zinc die casting is considered. Zamak 3 maintains an excellent balance of desirable physical and mechanical properties, superb castability and long-term dimensional stability.

The density of the Zamak 3 is 6.60 g/cm3 and the melting point is 384 degree celcius Zamak 3 (ASTM AG40A), or Zinc Alloy 3, is the most widely used zinc alloy in North America and is usually the first choice when considering zinc for die casting for a number of reasons.

  • Excellent balance of desirable physical and mechanical properties
  • Superb castability and long-term dimensional stability
  • Excellent finishing characteristics for plating, painting, and chromate treatments
  • Excellent damping capacity and vibration attenuation in comparison to aluminium die cast alloys
